About Jack Logan
Shiatsu found me before I found it
In 2017, I received Shiatsu while undergoing chemotherapy for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. The experience of dropping into a deep rest was unlike anything else I'd encountered.
Diploma-qualified in Shiatsu & East Asian Medicine and currently completing a Bachelor of Health Science in Chinese Medicine, Jack is a member of the Shiatsu Therapy Association of Australia. His clinical approach is grounded in East Asian medicine, with a particular interest in how touch, movement and breath can influence the nervous system and help the body shift out of habitual patterns of tension.
Jack now works at the esteemed Ping Ming Health Chinese Medicine clinic in Melbourne CBD — on Elizabeth Street overlooking Flinders Street Station — as the resident Meridian Massage and Shiatsu therapist. His treatments combine channel-based Shiatsu with gentle movement and resistance techniques drawn from Sotai, allowing sessions to respond not only to areas of muscular tension, but also to broader patterns of movement, guarding and nervous-system regulation. Cupping and gua sha may also be incorporated where appropriate.
His bodywork is informed by Chinese Medicine channel theory, particularly the relationship between the Jing Luo system, movement and areas of tension or restriction. Rather than treating an isolated area in a purely mechanical way, sessions aim to work with the body as an interconnected system, using pressure, movement and comfortable directional patterns to encourage greater ease and adaptability.
Jack regularly undertakes professional development across Shiatsu and movement-based therapies. This has included Movement Shiatsu (2020) with Bill Palmer and Sotai training with Paul Mostavvin (2024).
Alongside his clinical work, Jack maintains an ongoing teaching and practice in Raja Yoga under Robert Byrne, practises Ziran Qigong as taught within Master Liu Deming’s lineage, and maintains a dedicated Vipassana practice as taught by S. N. Goenka, with over 70 days completed in silent meditation retreats.
How I Work
Whole-person treatment
Each session considers the body as a whole and is tailored to what brings you in. People commonly seek support for tension, sleep, digestion and feeling more settled.
Gentle ⟷ deep
Sessions blend rhythmic pressure, palming, holds and stretches, adjusting depth in response to your body's signals and readiness.
Tailored support
We close with simple take-home posture adjustments — breath cues & micro-movements — so the benefits of your session last between visits.
